It\u2019s been a busy week here at Whispir, and it seems the world of technology is no different. We collated a few of the most interesting stories from across the industry.<\/p>\n

Telstra Ventures hosted a fascinating panel at the Blackbird Sunrise conference\u00a0this week, discussing how to take a business global, attract international investors and win in new markets. Matthew Koertge from Telstra Ventures was joined by Marcus Tan of Health Engine and Ted Gannan of Panviva for a chat amongst an exceptional lineup of successful Australian founders.<\/p>\n

Our partner, Twilio, has been giving back in a major way. The company\u00a0announced US$1 million in grants this week<\/a>\u00a0to eight not-for-profit organisations. They\u2019ll be using the grants to drive communications strategies that will drive social change. Nice.<\/p>\n

Not so nice are the bad habits of some Australian brands. SAP Hybris released a study on the bugbears of Australian consumers when it comes to hearing from brands. Too many direct marketing and sales calls came in at number one, followed by too many marketing and sales emails, and pushing irrelevant content.\u00a0CMO<\/span>\u00a0published a great article<\/a>\u00a0on the study this week if you want to read more.<\/p>\n

Mobile phones are kind of our thing here at Whispir, so you can imagine our excitement the news that Andy Rubin (creator of Android) and his company, Essential, is\u00a0launching its first smartphone<\/a>. We can\u2019t wait to get our hands on it.<\/p>\n

Our CEO, Jeromy Wells, has offered his advice to schools on how best to communicate in an emergency. It\u2019s a sad reality that schools are facing an increasing number of emergency situations and so important that they can ensure the safety of students as well as staff.<\/p>\n

While we\u2019re on the subject of schools, Jeromy also shared his thoughts on the top five mobile trends currently shaping the education sector. Mobile technology is quickly becoming a vital tool for educators, in the classroom and beyond, as discussed here in\u00a0The Educator<\/span><\/a>. From artificial intelligence to virtual reality, mobile is here to stay.<\/p>\n
