The program works with individuals across Victoria as they finish their tertiary studies and transition into rewarding, successful careers in the world of technology and digital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ts-body text-primary mt-[1.5em] first:mt-0\">As a company that\u2019s committed to building an inclusive work environment for all, Whispir is a big believer in the great work Grad Girls does. We\u2019re excited to be a part of it.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ts-h3 text-primary | mt-[1.14em] first:mt-0\">Women in the Australian STEM workforce: The current outlook<\/h3>\n<p class=\"ts-body text-primary mt-[1.5em] first:mt-0\">In 2016,<a class=\"underline font-bold text-body text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chiefscientist.gov.au\/2016\/03\/report-australias-stem-workforce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0a report from Australia\u2019s Chief Scientist<\/a>\u00a0found that women only represented 17% of the Australian STEM workforce. It also noted that of the STEM graduates, only 12% of women were earning in the top income bracket, compared to 32% of men.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ts-body text-primary mt-[1.5em] first:mt-0\">Many factors contribute to this, with a<a class=\"underline font-bold text-body text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.industry.gov.au\/data-and-publications\/youth-in-stem-research-2019-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a02019-20 Youth in STEM study from the Australian Government<\/a>\u00a0suggesting that female students feel less interested in pursuing careers in STEM. It also indicated that many female students feel less confident that they\u2019ll achieve good results when studying STEM subjects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ts-body text-primary mt-[1.5em] first:mt-0\">By working individually with female tertiary students, Girl Grads is actively working to change this gender diversity gap.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ts-h3 text-primary | mt-[1.14em] first:mt-0\">Why are programs like Grad Girls so important?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"ts-body text-primary mt-[1.5em] first:mt-0\">Having a diverse range of perspectives within an organisation is integral to driving innovation \u2013 a fact that 85% of large global enterprises agree with,<a class=\"underline font-bold text-body text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20110713006204\/en\/Forbes-Insights-Study-Identifies-Strong-Link-Diverse\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0according to a study from Forbes<\/a>. A workforce full of individuals who have different backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints will be much more effective in coming up with creative solutions and ideas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ts-body text-primary mt-[1.5em] first:mt-0\">That\u2019s backed up by the numbers, too, with<a class=\"underline font-bold text-body text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vicictforwomen.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Grad-Girls-Sponsorship-2021-download3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0gender diverse companies outperforming their counterparts on the ASX by 15%<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ts-h3 text-primary | mt-[1.14em] first:mt-0\">How Whispir is working to reduce the gender gap in technology<\/h3>\n<p class=\"ts-body text-primary mt-[1.5em] first:mt-0\">Whispir places a very high value on diversity and inclusion.
